Recertification Requirements

AI CERTs® requires annual recertification to maintain the validity of the certification. Notifications are sent three months before the due date, and candidates must follow the steps outlined in the Candidate Guide to complete the recertification process.

Certification Validity and Renewal

AI CERTs® certifications are valid for one (1) year from the date of issue, as specified in the applicable Certification Plan.

To maintain the certification status, certificate holders must complete annual recertification according to the certification plan. The primary method for recertification is retaking the exam using the latest version of the certification exam that aligns with the competency requirements specified in the plan.

Certificate holders are notified before their certification expires and may be granted an administrative grace period of 30 to 90 days, as specified in the certification plan, to complete the recertification requirements.

If recertification is not completed within the grace period specified in the plan:

  • The certification status will be suspended

  • The use of the certification must be discontinued

  • The certification may be revoked

  • Reapplication as a new candidate may be required after an extended lapse period.

All recertification, suspension, and revocation procedures are subject to the policies of the certification plan and the applicable certifying body.
